Huzzah! Happy 283rd! Huzzah!

Did you know that the first recorded public celebration of General George Washington's birthday occurred at Valley Forge on February 22, 1778?

Carry on this tradition by visiting Valley Forge National Historical Park this coming Monday/President's Day, 2/16/2015. There are crafts & games for kids from 10AM to noon. At noon we will sing 'Happy Birthday' to General Washington and all celebrate with cupcakes (some made from Martha's own cake recipe!). Afterwards kids can join the Continental Army and stand for review by the General. Ten hut!

The full day's events can be found here.

Older kids, adults, and Rev War junkies (like me!) in general may also be interested in the author presentation & book signing Sunday, 2/15/2015. Tim McGrath, author of 'Give Me A Fast Ship' will talk about the American navy...a David & Goliath tale to be sure. The author presentation will be in the Education Center (now called the Meeting Room) and the book signing will follow in the Visitor's Center.
